Job Description:

The Financial Specialist is responsible for supporting the functions performed by the AIC Controller’s group including reviewing, analyzing and interpreting accounting, financial and statistical data preparation, budgeting, forecasting, and support throughout AIC.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, procedures and controls.
  • Assist in any financial and accounting projects as assigned including answering inquiries from auditors, management, regulatory, business lines and others.
  • Assist other AIC personnel with budget, accounting related information and special reporting as related to assigned RMCs/Projects.
  • Assist in the research, development and documentation for AIC Accounting Instructions plus policies and procedures for financial and reporting matters.
  • Provide support for the ongoing standard billing processes and procedures for AIC (e.g., Damage Claims, Non-service Billings, DER Billings,
  • Wholesale Billings, Government Relocations, Engineering Studies).
  • Assist in review and recommendation of process changes to drive consistency and improve future reporting and analysis.
  • Research, report and offer advice to resolve any significant variances between actual and budgeted expenditures.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to improve existing and create new procedures.
  • Assist with coordination and completion of AIC monthly accruals and prepare other journal entries as needed.
  • Periodic required Non-service related balance sheet account balancing and reporting (e.g. 252ACC, 252804, 252DER).
  • Assist with accumulating data and the preparation of AIC’s Productive Hourly Rate calculations.
  • Prepare and submit annual budget, monthly forecasting and budget variance reports for any assigned RMC’s or projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • CPA required. Master’s Degree or CMA preferred.
  • One or more years of relevant accounting experience (accounting, budget preparation, and statistical analysis) required.
