Job Description:
The Water-Wastewater Treatment Operator works with minimal supervision to perform field operations, operate and monitor the water plant and/or sewer plant, and related infrastructure. Responsible for treatment plant and distribution repairs and maintenance as directed, and handles customer service requirements. This position is located in Belen, NM.
Job Responsibilities:
- Pull water quality samples as required and deliver to laboratory
- Read meters
- Set and remove meters
- Record the measurements of fittings as installed by contractor (as built)
- Performs the loading, testing, chlorination, and sampling of mains
- Under supervision, operate a level 1 wastewater treatment plant
- Raise or lower valve casings
- Turn services off and on
- Repair mains and services
- Inspect subdivision installations
- Under supervision, operate a level III water treatment plant
- Shut down mains for construction crews
- Raise, lower or abandon services, and mains
- Change flat rate services as required
- Investigate water quality complaints
- Locate Company facilities as required
- Prepare necessary records and reports
- Complete necessary paperwork
Job Requirements:
- Must posses valid NM driver license
- Must obtain within 12 months, State of New Mexico Class B Commercial drivers license
- Must be available for call outs, evenings, holidays & weekends
- Construction or plumbing experience equivalent to a laborer or apprentice
- Must obtain within two years of hire, State of New Mexico Level 2 Water and Wastewater Operator certification
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
- High school diploma or GED
- Upon hire, must provide proof of COVID vaccination
