Capital One Job Openings – Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description:

You’ll work with high-performing infrastructure engineering teams, and some incredible Engineers and Architects, supporting the UK business’ multi-year migration to AWS – solving complex problems, and guiding teams through AWS migrations into an already well-established public cloud footprint.

Job Responsibilities:

• As a member of both the Goal Team Leadership Team *and* as a Senior Engineer in an agile delivery team, you will work both within and across teams, blending hands-on engineering with coaching and mentoring of engineers, influencing direction, elevating and including others, and being a source of technical innovation and high standards
• Identify and define engineering patterns, capabilities, initiatives, and influence best practices for Operational Excellence, Security, and Quality Engineering
• Take the lead on solution design for complex AWS migrations, typically with a “re-platforming” approach
• Work with teams, Engineering Managers, Architects, and Technical Programme Managers to define and deliver a migration and capability roadmap
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders, tribes, Cyber security, Operations, and the wider engineering community
• Working with SMEs, Engineers, Architects, and other stakeholders – you will provide guidance and technical leadership from “idea” stage, through design socialisation and approval, key decision making, hands-on delivery, and handover into Support

Job Requirements:

• Ability to take business and technical requirements through solution design and delivery, communicating effectively with different types of audience
• Strong background in Linux, scripting, DevOps tooling, and solution design
• A strong growth-mindset, interest in learning new technologies, tools, libraries and frameworks
• A capable, technical lead, with a passion for solving complex problems, delivering high-quality and well-documented solutions, and helping engineers to grow
• Diverse technical experience, ideally including traditional on-premise virtualised infrastructure delivery, cloud engineering in a major public cloud, and general Enterprise Tech
• Experience with building, re-platforming, or re-hosting solutions into the public cloud
• An effective communicator and influencer, able to work in and across delivery teams towards a common goal
• Has high standards for engineering excellence
• Strong understanding of Cyber security principles and how they apply to infrastructure and cloud technologies
• Familiar and comfortable in an agile delivery environment
• Understanding of networking principles
