The Analytics Engineering Team at Capital One is continually innovating the way data tools and products are developed, helping to transform how analysts work. We do this by applying our analytics, engineering and business skills to the development of internal data tools, harnessing data and technology to make it easier for our users to extract relevant insights and drive value.

Job Responsibilities:

• Flex your interpersonal and design skills to translate the complexity of the work into key business results
• Partner with internal customers to understand their requirements and provide recommendations, ensuring there is a balance between timelines, high quality delivery, technical cost and risk
• Drive thinking across the team, focussing on the engineering approaches and technologies used to drive effective solution design and best practice
• Design, develop and maintain high quality, business focussed software packages and data solutions, helping our users to work more efficiently with large datasets

Job Requirements:

• A passion for making development as efficient and reliable as possible – for example, you may have experience with git, unit testing frameworks, CICD pipelines or some data-focused cloud storage services (e.g. AWS S3)
• Experience processing or analysing datasets, interacting with databases, data warehouses or data lakes
• You love the process of developing software products, but also share our passion for understanding the business. You know at the end of the day it’s about reaching the right outcome for our customers
• You love innovation and evaluating emerging technologies. You stay current on published state-of-the-art methods, technologies and applications and seek out opportunities to apply them
• Experience of writing efficient Python to process and analyse large datasets. Ideally you’ll have used data focused libraries such as pandas and numpy
