Job Description:

The Risk and Controls Manager manages the business process development, improvement, and ongoing support of Caterpillar’s Enterprise Ethics & Compliance Program within the Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD). This role will manage and provide centralized business resources for financial and operational controls and mitigate risk, in alignment with corporate objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for financial & operational control process owners
  • Develop and communicate financial & operational specific SOx & audit issue related metrics
  • Leverage Auditboard to enhance SOx and Audit reporting
  • Communicate audit/assessment issues across the division through the automated issue communication platform to avoid repeat issues
  • As part of the Second Line of Defense, work with facilities to foster a robust internal controls environment
  • Manage the end-to-end process to ensure audit & assessment issues are closed & certified timely
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with both internal and external partners to ensure adequate awareness and understanding of divisional internal controls and prioritization
  • Develop annual internal assessment plan to complement Internal Audit and Advisory Services (IASS) audit plan
  • Responsible for business related SOx controls for multiple in-scope SOx facilities, which totals to approximately 155 individual controls
  • Provide Management with ongoing communications relative to audit results, audit issue status, SOx results, etc.
  • Responsible for PSLD financial & operational internal controls, spanning multiple business units and 70+ facilities globally
  • Oversee team activities including quarterly business manager checklist coordination, quarterly Insider Trading process coordination, annual
  • Small Entity Checklist testing, annual re-certification of closed audit issues

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the Caterpillar organization, its products, policies, and procedures
  • 4-year degree in accounting OR any 4-year degree with an accounting certification (CPA/CMA)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Credentialed expertise (CPA or CMA)
  • Strong background in financial accounting, cost accounting, and internal controls
  • 7 or more years of progressively responsible job-related experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific action
