Job Description:
The Chemist accurately performs analytical testing on raw materials and finished products via analytical instrumentation in order to support ongoing product release including but not limited to stability studies, new raw materials approval, and semi-finished products.
Job Responsibilities:
- Utilize analytical instrumentation such as FTIR, HPLC, ICP, Thin layer chromatography, and wet chemistry techniques, and have good scientific understanding of these techniques.
- Assists with a variety of special laboratory projects including but not limited to: testing method transfer, method improvement and material homogenization of the products.
- Draft and document routine analytical testing to support raw material and/or product release including but not limited to stability samples and semi-finished products.
- Perform all activities in compliance with the SOPs and cGLP/cGMP requirements.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by laboratory management or designee
- Create, uphold and revise standard operating procedures
- Assure that all work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion. Perform necessary cleaning, maintenance, and calibration verification of instrumentation, as required.
- Perform technical (peer) review of data generated by other analysts (notebook write-ups, worksheets, etc.) as required.
- Accurately perform analytical testing of samples to support incoming raw materials, in-process production, finished product and stability samples with some supervision.
- Assist QC Lab department with laboratory investigation documentation for OOS testing results.
Job Requirements:
- Computer proficiency skills
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Preferred Education and Experience:
- Prior nutraceutical industry experience
- Prior experience in a professional laboratory environment; 1-2 years
- Familiar with one or more of the following: Liquid Chromatography (HPLC or HPTLC), ICP-OES, ICP-MS, LCMS
- Master’s Degree in Science or related field
- Experience with LCMS desirable including method development and validation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science
