Job Description:
Reporting to the Global Customs and International Trade Compliance Senior Manager, the Global Tariff Classification Specialist will be responsible for ensuring proper tariff classification of goods and that related import/export requirements are assigned to individual goods crossing international borders.
Job Responsibilities:
- Across the EU and UK, this will be a minimum of 250 movements to be declared each month in 2023 and does not include new market openings, new product launches and integration of Costa Express global supply chain into Costa Limited
- Ensuring compliance with commodity code regulations in jurisdictions where the Costa business and its partners operates
- Evaluating and recommending new compliance processes / opportunities to enhance business performance
- There is and will continue to be an increasing number of bespoke exports / imports which add complexity and risk due to the nature / type of goods and engagement required at origin / destination and during movement of goods with customs authorities / sanitary / health / inspection agencies / carriers / freight forwarders / port authorities and liaison with customs brokers; commodity codes are the basis on which much of this rests
- Ensure all activities are carried out in alignment with The Coca-Cola Company and Costa policy requirements and locally, in-country applicable regulations.
- Ensuring commodity codes are fit for purpose in countries where goods will be exported / imported
- Preventing non-compliance and overcoming barriers to the international movement of goods
Job Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret product specifications and identify the issues relevant to tariff classification procedures
- Knowledge of purpose and content of documents of international trade and non-tariff requirements
- Experience working with customs brokers, and monitoring accuracy and compliance with documented instructions
- Strong understanding of General Rules for the Interpretation (GIRs)
- Significant International Trade / Customs / Trade Compliance / Tariff Classification experience, ideally within a Multi-Channel Retail and/or FMCG business
- Strong understanding of international tariff classification methodology
- Experience auditing customs entries/data and identifying and correcting errors, as well as recommending corrective action
- Knowledge of import and export declaration processes
