Job Description:
Support the EHS Lead at site level and pro-actively co-ordinating the business health, safety & environment activities to ensure that the maintenance activities exceed its regulatory, contractual and company obligations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Organise, assign and brief EHS representatives, fire fighters and First aiders and ensure execution
- Assist in the acquisition of EHS equipment e.g. emergency preparedness equipment, signage, etc.
- Assist manage risks and hazards in their area
- Monitor site compliance with EHS policy and procedures and legal requirements
- Provide advice, information and instruction on site EHS issues
- Report and facilitate investigation of incidents, injuries and hazards and advice
- Compile toolbox talks for site and disseminate EHS information
- Review and analyse injury and incident reports and data. (action item list)
- Monitor and assess hazardous and unsafe situations personnel safety
- Carry out EHS Officer inspections
- Receive briefing from EHS lead and carry out instructions on site
- Assist in developing injury and incident prevention strategies for site
- Audit site EHS compliance with regard to organizational and legal EHS requirements
- Promote EHS awareness
- Assist in the application and development of EHS procedures
Job Requirements:
- Fluent in English
- Grade 12
- Knowledge of Railway industry is an added advantage
- National Diploma or BTech in Occupational Health and Safety
- Computer literacy
- Strong inter-personal skill in multi-cultural environment
- Recognised health and safety qualification (e.g. SAMTRAC)
- EHS systems implementation and an internal auditors certificate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Safety.
