Job Description:
This role reports into the Head of Strategy Global Banking & Markets (GBM) and Chief Commercial Officer, Global Banking. The job holder has substantial autonomy and authority and ensures that tough questions are raised and answered in a constructive environment focused on delivering maximum value in MSS for the Group shareholder.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure alignment of the strategic directions of MSS initiatives with broader GBM client and footprint strategy and Group Strategy
- Recruit and develop a future top talent pool for GBM and Group Strategy
- Lead development and coordination of strategic initiatives in MSS
- Ensures team’s compliance with mandatory / necessary / business critical initiatives and requirements
- Identify execution risks on strategy and propose remedial actions
- Track execution of underlying MSS key initiatives to ensure strategic KPIs are met
- Collaborate effectively with peers in the Regions / Global Businesses
- Represent MSS in cross bank strategic initiatives aimed at maximising value for the Group shareholder including collaborations across business lines or functions
- Deliver fair outcomes for our stakeholders (customers, shareholders etc.) and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
- Lead recruitment and talent development of the Strategy team in GBM
- Shape the strategic agenda for Markets and Securities Services including identification of the most important trends impacting the sector, key organic and inorganic moves and capital / resource allocation into different streams of MSS
- Pro-actively identify key collaboration opportunities with other businesses and functions
Job Requirements:
- Structured problem solving skills, gained from substantial experience (10+ years) in strategic roles in strategy consulting, banking, asset management or financial services.
- Demonstrated ability to drive transformational strategic projects
- Previous experience in people management
- Understanding of HSBC’s Markets and Securities Services business globally, including footprint, competitors, products, clients, P&L, and balance sheet
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
