Job Description:

The Lead Financial Specialist is responsible for preparing and reviewing various areas of Ameren’s financial accounting including billed/unbilled revenue, payroll distribution, stocks, debt, interest, insurance, intercompany billings, and service company allocations, and ensures the accounting principles prescribed by the Company and various regulatory agencies are accurately applied.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review external annual and quarterly regulatory filings with the SEC, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and State Public Service Commissions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, procedures and controls.
  • Proactively and independently research, report and propose Company policy on financial and reporting matters, including monitoring the activities of financial and regulatory reporting and accounting standard setting agencies.
  • Review rate calculations (e.g., regulatory mechanisms), prepare associated testimony and filings, and prepare financial analysis in support of regulatory filings.
  • Review, analyze and interpret complex accounting, financial and statistical data.
  • Review Ameren and Ameren subsidiary financial closing transactions and related reports.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required.
  • CPA also required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of accounting experience with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, standards and methods required.
  • Required reporting experience (e.g. SEC and FERC) preferred.
