Job Description:
The Product Designer plays an important role in helping to craft digital experiences for Capital One Canada. They have the opportunity to apply their skills to real-world product and user-centric design challenges.
Job Responsibilities:
- Employs a user-centric mindset and executes design solutions in a business context.
- Contributes to the development and refinement of design systems, and ensures they’re applied to everything we do.
- Applies design strategy and best practices through hands-on project work.
- Expands knowledge of design processes and methodologies and learns new ones as appropriate.
- Typically focuses on functional-level design challenges.
- Works off of intent provided by a senior peer, such as a Senior Product Designer or Product Owner.
- Participates in and contributes to design workshop planning and facilitation with some guidance from senior peers.
- Helps brainstorm and propose design solutions that take our products to another level, taking into consideration the product direction, visuals and user experience.
- Designs with customers and business goals in mind.
- Typically responsible for sharing the interface or design solution and providing context with minimal input from senior peers.
- Operates primarily at the execution level with guidance from senior peers.
- Participates in and helps facilitate discovery work with a Senior Product Designer as the lead, while leading some smaller intents.
Job Requirements:
- Examples of work that tell a story through a feature/product and demonstrate involvement throughout the design cycle.
- Knowledge of both UI (interaction, visual, accessibility) and UX (user research, analysis, information architecture, wireframing).
- Fluency in best practices for both web and native app-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
- 2-3 years of Product Design experience with consumer and/or mobile products.
- A portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, problem-solving and visual design skills in responsive apps and websites.
- Bachelor’s Degree in HCI/UX, Design, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, site maps and interactive prototypes.
- Knowledge of web technologies to facilitate an understanding of tech constraints.
