Job Description:
Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the incumbent of this position is responsible for contributing and supporting Payroll operations, through timely and accurate processing of salaries and payments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Retain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Assist in year-end process for T4/RL1 Summaries, EHT and Annual Reports for all Workers’ Compensation provinces.
- Liaison with Federal and Provincial governments when required;
- Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages; prepare scheduled and ad hoc reports as required;
- Ensure balance of payroll tax and Workers’ Compensation accounts by auditing information; identifying and resolving discrepancies;
- Assist Payroll Administrators in preparing pay by verifying time records and payroll slips for 1700 unionized and non-unionized employees, tracking benefit balances (Sick, PTO, VAC, etc), issue ROEs, and various other payroll related tasks
- Communicate with multiple stations across the country, via telephone/email;
- Various analyses from the Accounting Department;
- Ensure upload for payroll data is accurate for General Ledger;
Job Requirements:
- Bilingual (French/English) a must – both spoken and written
- Ability to work in a team environment and develop relationships
- College or Bachelor Degree in Administration, Accounting, HRM and/or equivalent experience
- Certification as a Payroll Compliance (PCP), an asset
- Knowledge of Ceridian – Dayforce HCM system an asset
- Strong knowledge of Canada Labour Code
- Between 2-3 years experience in a similar role (Payroll)
- Financially competent, able to assimilate and interpret financial data
- High energy, personal presence and maturity
- Ability to work closely with other departments and managers
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Attendance Enterprise (NTS) or any other timekeeping/attendance system, an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Computer literate (Outlook, Word, Excel (intermediate))
- Excellent oral and written communications
- Attention to detail and result driven
