Job Description:
The main purpose of this position is to provide leadership and strategic direction, and to manage the overall functioning of the Corporation for Deposit Insurance (CODI) in line with the legal requirements and international standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the risk, compliance and governance functions to ensure that CODI fulfils its legal obligations, and report to the CODI Board on these issues.
- Provide input into the SARB strategy.
- Regularly assess the adequacy of funding of the Deposit Insurance Fund (DIF) to fulfil CODI’s functions and obligations.
- Monitor the use of resources to increase efficiency or redirect work.
- Participate as a member of the International Association of Deposit Insurers and its subcommittees, where relevant.
- Prioritise work to achieve the organisational objectives, adjust plans and reprioritise work plans as required
- Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of CODI’s strategy in line with the guidance of the CODI Board of Directors (Board) and the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) financial stability mandate.
- Develop operational plans and budgets, and define the value chain, structure and resources required to deliver on the objectives of CODI.
- Promote compliance with international standards and international best practice on deposit insurance by identifying areas for improvement and initiating projects to address these.
- Take responsibility for communication to stakeholders and the establishment and maintenance of public awareness on deposit insurance.
