Job Responsibilities:

  • Using Microsoft office products, collects, track’s and prepares reports of injuries as requested, provides data-based trend analysis, monthly and year over year statistics, presenting data at the EOCC meeting.
  • Maintains and submits an accurate SharePoint injury log as well as a contact log each month to the Facility Support Services (FSS). Data will be entered monthly into the excel spreadsheet and uploaded into SharePoint. Designs and maintains other databases as needed to meet department/hospital need for information.
  • Manages the facility FMLA program and works with supervisors, managers and HR to ensure effective management of employee leave and FMLA.
  • When possible and with the permission of the injured employee, will take photos of injured area.
  • Works with injured employees, physicians, supervisors and the State Office of Risk Management to ensure the interest of all parties is being met while maintaining the best interest of the facility, striving to bring employee back to work as soon as possible, in accordance to policy.
  • Ensures that effective professional rapport is maintained with personnel in the healthcare industry, SORM and with ASH supervisors and employees.
  • Completes and submits mandatory documents/forms to the State Office of Risk Management within the timeframes required by law and provides case management to employees who have sustained work related injuries to ensure that employee receives all benefits to which they are entitled under the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act, 1991, State Office of Risk Management and other appropriate laws, policies and procedures.
  • Keeps supervisor updated weekly on the number of current claims and any WC issues that need to be addressed by management.
  • Will confer with the injured employee and physicians regarding employee work status. Will notify supervisors via email, telephone or face-to-face meetings providing them updates on the employee injury status.
  • Maintains on-going weekly contact (face-to-face, email, phone call) with all injured employees and noting contact on the log.
  • Monitors employees in a return-to-work status through a transitional or modified duty status while suffering from a compensable injury.
  • Represents the State hospital in hearings related to the injured employee as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, hospital leadership team and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work efficiently and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the Texas State Employees’ Workers’ Compensation System rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Return-to-Work program, accident prevention related activities, and the use of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must be knowledgeable and capable of auditing staff performance of the application of Treatment Intervention and Preventative Strategies (TIPS).
  • Knowledge of FMLA policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives, to create solutions to administrative problems, develop and evaluate policies and procedures, reports and interprets, and applies rules.
