Job Description:

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), a Certified Best Place for Working Parents, is seeking a Staff Services Coordinator (Staff Services Officer V) to join the Workforce Division Director’s team. This position reports to the Division Director of the Workforce Development in Austin, Texas, but is eligible for working remotely from anywhere in the State of Texas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and reviews and/or oversees the preparation and review of operational and special reports.
  • Plans and directs several staff services functions such as human resources, accounting, budgeting, purchasing, information technology, training, and property management.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Plans and coordinates agency services with federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Develops regulations and procedures.
  • Screens, interviews, and recommends employment of applicants; and recommends promotions, demotions, merit increases, disciplinary actions, transfers and discharge of employees.
  • Plans and coordinates special and administrative assignments and programs.
  • Reviews the agency’s activities and policies; and interprets and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in human resource management.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human resources, public or business administration, or a related field plus two years of full-time experience in business management, human resources administration, budget preparation or control, or a related staff services function.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, draw appropriate conclusions, and initiate necessary actions to solve problems.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • One year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite, CAPPS, and Taleo Recruiting programs.
  • Ability to work independently on complex tasks simultaneously and handle interruptions.
  • Knowledge of office management, personnel administration, fiscal, purchasing methods and training techniques.
