Job Description:
Providing a holistic academic research support service to specialist registrars across all disciplines in the Faculty; Liaising with the Research Capacity Development and Funding Opportunities Office in the RDSD in terms of research capacity development for registrars
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintaining a community of practice amongst individuals supporting registrar research;
- Working with FMHS departments, divisions, and centres to build a culture of enthusiasm and professionalism around research;
- Developing and facilitating blended and e-learning courses that contribute to research capacity building;
- Providing capacity building services to consultants/supervisors;
- Assisting specialist registrars in navigating and utilising relevant academic and support service resources;
- Maintaining current knowledge of theories and best practices for supporting student success;
- Sustaining a legitimate presence in the Faculty that communicates the value and importance of registrar research;
- Maintaining an office webpage and additional resources as needed;
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders;
- Good management and academic leadership skills;
- At least two years experience supervising/supporting postgraduate students at a Masters or PhD level;
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
- A keen interest in the support and development of research capacity and postgraduate student success;
- PhD in Health Sciences;
- At least two years work, or postdoctoral research experience, in a higher education environment;
- A strong academic record and recent publications in accredited academic journals;
- Experience working with individuals and groups with diverse needs;
