Job Description:
The incumbent will be responsible for defining the “as-is” employee experience at UPS, and then defining the desired “to-be” employee experience that will enhance the experience throughout the employee lifecycle. This role requires research and monitoring of the UPS experience, developing a change roadmap with targeted employee journeys, and instituting mechanisms to mobilize the enterprise to achieve the “to-be” state.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitates partnerships with UPS leadership, BUs and functions (via HRBPs), and other HR teams, using a variety of tactics (e.g., in-depth interviews, surveys, other forms of communication) to synthesize the current culture, values, leadership capabilities, and other facets of the employee experience
- Provides direction to others for navigating change, clarifying ambiguity and minimizing resistance
- Partners with the Employee Insights team to ensure we have ongoing understanding of the statistics surrounding our employees, and strategic understanding of our current workforce makeup along with Employee Insights, develops strategies to address the overall health of that workforce
- Leads the design of a digital experience for employees, and use digital visualization to tell the story of the employee experience to UPS leadership
- Monitors the allocation and management of relevant budget (e.g. recognition and rewards programs, employee satisfaction survey administration, performance appraisal software, etc.)
- Serves as a consultative source of information, tactics and organization in the area of Maintaining Non-Union Status (MNUS) for positions not currently represented by the unions
- Partners closely with peers across different COEs, through frequent conversations and collaborations, to ensure consistency across HR strategies, policies, and programs
- Provides strategic guidance and expertise as it relates to Culture & Employee Experience to relevant parties
- Co-designs the vision for the “to-be” experience alongside other COE teams and HRBPs, including enterprise values, the employee experience, and a cohesive Employee Value Proposition
- Develops team of managers under direct oversight through ongoing coaching and mentorship
- Ensures effective communication and collaboration among managers under direct oversight, as well as the team members in work streams
- Influences stakeholders outside of COE (e.g., HRBPs) and HR by serving as a subject matter expert in Employee Experience and overall People and Culture mission for UPS
- Facilitates and encourages collaboration of team members with other COE teams to ensure that Employee Experience strategy/programs are infused in other key moments for UPSers (e.g., Career Mapping, Training, etc.)
- Provides guidance and subject matter expertise on conducting external research to determine key attractiveness/retention factors, and partner with HR Leadership to define strategic goals to be considered a ‘top employer’ in the market
- Leads and directs Employee Experience projects and initiatives for the International and US Culture & Employee Experience strategy teams
- Ensures alignment of Employee Experience strategy and programs with UPS enterprise-wide policies
- Monitors the effectiveness of programs and continuously improve design based on feedback and data
- Embraces various cultures, working styles and perspectives by cultivating an inclusive work environment
- Oversees partnership with the Total Rewards COE to define retention strategy and programs that are aligned with business requirements to decrease attrition of high potentials/critical roles
Job Requirements:
- Experience designing, developing and supporting organization-wide employee experience programs
- Possesses knowledge of leading practices, external trends, principles, and methods in Employee Experience
- Displays ability to work effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities and short deadlines
Displays strong planning, organization, delegation, problem solving, and decision-making abilities - Possesses knowledge of government policies, regulations, and procedures regarding employment laws, EEOC, AAPs, etc.
- Experience of HR Information Systems and Workday
- Demonstrates financial/business acumen and analytical abilities with a clear focus on thoroughness, accuracy, and quality
- Experience in vendor selection and management
- Previous experience in capturing metrics and producing various employment reports, including modern use of digital visualization
- Possesses ability to influence, partner, and develop productive relationships with senior HR leadership and other parties to achieve necessary strategic goals
- Demonstrates executive presence to interact across all levels within the organization; proactive and inquisitive nature who can anticipate/pre-empt problems and a self-starter
- Demonstrates communication (verbal/written), effective leadership, people management, and development skills
