Job Description:
Proactively monitor and improve the overall MS SQL Database environment (Functionality, Operability, Capacity, Utilisation).
Job Responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining database security,
- Installing and testing new versions of the database management system (DBMS),
- Schedule scripts to do reporting, updating and maintenance,
- Compile database documentation, including data standards, security baselines, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata),
- Refining the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model,
- Performance monitoring and tuning of the databases,
- Liaise with offsite DB support specialists where applicable,
- Refining the physical design to optimize system storage requirements,
- Maintenance of DB portals and web services,
- Development of SQL scripts & procedures,
Job Requirements:
- Understanding of POPIA, cybersecurity threats, database security baseline,
- Must have MS SQL database installation, setup, configuring, optimization expertise as a primary function,
- Must have familiarity and understanding of basic development and scripting computer languages – MS SQL, the Windows Operating System and Database Design Concepts. Programming experience desirable but not essential,
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in Database Administration in a large organisation or educational institution,
- Matric and Relevant Microsoft Professional Certification/s in MS SQL Database Management or related field.
- A B degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, National Diploma (NQF 6) in IT related fields is advantageous and will receive preference,
